Dr Leanne Norman is a senior research fellow in the Carnegie Faculty at Leeds Beckett University. Her research utilises critical feminist sociology to interrogate the culture of coaching to address inequality related to gender and sexuality within the profession. She has written for books including Coaching Knowledges: Understanding the Dynamics of Sport Performance (2007), Learning Culture through Sport: Perspectives on Society and Organised Sports (2010) and has published widely in academic journals. Leanne has also played sport (hockey and football) to a high level and has coaching experience in a variety of team sports.

- Understanding high performance women athletes’ experiences of being coached and of the coach-athlete relationship
- Understanding the impact of equity training on coaching practices and relations
- Analysing the professional experiences of lesbian coaches in the UK using a theory of everyday gendered homophobia
