Professor Alan White, a Registered Nurse, is the Founder and Co-director of the Centre for Men’s Health at Leeds Beckett and Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Men’s Health Forum (England & Wales). He has recently headed up an international team of academics for ‘The State of Men’s Health in Europe Report’ for the European Commission.
His other research includes the evaluation of Premier League Health Initiative, which is being run through the Football Premier League in England; Tackling Men’s Health with the Leeds Rhinos; and the on-going evaluation of the Rugby League Mental Health programme.
Alan’s current projects include:
- Gender equality and the role of men in Europe.
- Football Fans in Training (FFIT): a randomised controlled trial of a gender-sensitive weight loss and healthy living programme delivered to men aged 35-65 by Scottish Premier League football clubs NIHR PHRP (PI Sally Wyke), collaborator.
